The Word Is Only As Good As the Messenger

The word is only as good as the messenger. It seems reasonable to assume God is bigger than the universe, but the human experience of God is still bound by universal laws, the laws which govern space and time. “God is with the word and God is the word,” so said Jesus’ favorite disciple, but it’s still confined to the linguistic ability of the one speaks it. Thus, there is only one Truth, but there are infinite means of perceiving and expressing it.

Perhaps you’ve had the experience of revelation in conversation with someone, a life-altering moment which changes the entire course of your life. Perhaps you’ve gone back to that person years later and told them how important that conversation was only to find that the person who spoke those divine words of inspiration doesn’t remember it, at least not at all the way you remember it. One person conveyed their perception of Truth, and you perceived it totally differently, yet something beyond the words happened when both parties were present and honest with one another.

Fortune telling is simply trusting someone else’s intuition over your own intuition. If you’re in touch with your own intuition, you don’t need astrology or Tarot cards, and you certainly don’t need religion.

Perhaps some holy being spoke words of wisdom, guidance and healing, and you were triggered by words like “faith,” “grace,” “God,” or “Christ.” The holy being is still limited to speaking his own language. Perhaps it’s your responsibility to translate the word “God” to “Universe” and “Christ” to “Love.”

How you receive the message is entirely up to you. The messenger may be a bird who’s simply looking for a meal. The word is only as real as the way you receive it. If you look down on the bird or you look up to the holy man, you may miss the message entirely, for you too are the messenger, and the word is only as good as the messenger.
